FAQ

At our centre, we believe that parents know their children best—especially when it comes to food. That’s why we ask families to provide their child’s meals each day. Parents pack a lunchbox with enough food for morning tea, lunch, and afternoon tea, tailored to their child’s preferences and needs.
While we don’t supply cooked meals, we occasionally enjoy baking as part of our curriculum activities. We're also happy to heat up leftovers provided from home.
Our focus is on fostering independence, and managing their own lunchbox is a great way for children to build important self-help skills—like unwrapping packets, recognising their food, and eating at their own pace. This approach also helps to ensure children are eating food they’re familiar with and enjoy, which supports a more positive and successful day of learning.
Please note: In line with the Ministry of Health’s choking prevention guidelines, we’re unable to cut or modify any food items at the centre, so we appreciate your help in preparing food that’s safe and ready to eat.
We’re here to support your child’s development in every way—and that includes making mealtimes feel safe, comfortable, and empowering!
Our daily schedule includes: - Morning tea: 8:30 am - Mat Time: 10:00 am - Lunch: 11:00 am - Afternoon tea: 2:00 pm The rest of the day is dedicated to play-based learning. We also have a special preschool session for our four-year-olds after lunch. Please note that these times are flexible and may vary depending on the day and the children's needs.
At Kidlywinks Childcare, we embrace an interactive play-based learning approach. This allows children to actively explore their environment and the world around them through play. They learn by exploring ideas and language, manipulating objects, acting out roles, and experimenting with materials like blocks, natural items, play dough, and paint.
